This is a rich, opulent wine, full of smoke and chocolate from the barrel-ageing. It is great to drink by itself, but in terms of matching with food, venison stew goes excellently with it. Hard cheeses also make an excellent accompaniment, as do chocolate-based desserts provided that they are not too sweet.
